Curating a vintage shop is an artform, one that the folks at bo winston on Etsy have mastered!  They have done all the work for you, selecting only the finest items, representing multiple decades of fashion.  The shop features a little bit of everything, and I’ve selected some prime dresses to share with you here.

Etsy Shop of the Week – The Astral Gemini

The Astral Gemini is the love child of the beautiful and talented Chelsea & Nick, currently reppin’ Lawrence, KS.  The shop is filled with choice vintage items for women, men, children, feet, and home!  My favourite section in The Astral Gemini shop is Chelsea’s handmade creations.  These items are one-of-a-kind (OOAK), and fused together with genuine magic gifted from the Universe.

Desktop61Chelsea puts her spirit into making the items pictured above, and there are many more where these came from.  She uses elements of nature, and design inspiration from the 60-70s era to bring forth accessories meant to be seen, enjoyed and treasured.

il_570xN.431960404_318hYou can also get a custom made fringe t-shirt, perfect for festival season!!  This would look great with a long, bohemian skirt, and one of Chelsea’s handmade dreamcatcher necklaces.

Valentine’s Day is coming up.  Two years ago, that would have meant nothing to me.  Rather, it would have meant rolling my eyes, and holding my stomach in dramatic fashion, at even the mention of the man-made “holiday.”  Fortunately for me, and my sweet hubby dear, I have softened, sold out OR bought into the annual festival of hearts.  He’s making me a papier-mâché expression of his undying love, and I…well, I haven’t gotten that far yet.  You will certainly be the first to know!

Right now, I’m in the mood for love.

Etsy Shop of the Week – Karina Manarin

Art and fashion are one and the same!  Each of us has a chance to be an artist every day when we create our armor of texture and color.  Karina Manarin understands this concept on many levels.

Karina received her BFA in fibers from Arizona State University in 2007.  She is an artist in many mediums, and it shows in the techniques she utilizes to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

These pieces are from Karina’s “Rock Collection,” aside from the scarf which was done with a Japanese technique called Shibori!  You MUST read her product descriptions.  These items are seriously magical, scientific, products of love!

Karina hand dyes everything, and utilizes inspiration from nature in her creative process.  She says about the Rock Collection, “I collected a few stones which reminded me of my childhood rock collection of pretty stones I found in the desert behind my house. I hope this project reflects the fun and joy of childhood rock collections!”
